On Sunday the Bridgwater Petanque Club recorded it's first win in the Devon Petanque League by beating table topping Honiton PC 3 games to 2. This was the teams first home fixture having already played 3 away matches without success. It was important, therefore, to make home advantage count and this the team did.

The two opening triples were shared with a win for each team. Barry Alison and Ian losost 7-13 but Gabrielle, Dave and Michael won a very closely fought game by the narrowest of margin 13-12.

Alison and Barry teamed up for the first of the pairs and had a comfortable win 13-3.

Unfortunately Michael and Ian could not match Alison and Barry's success losing their game 7-13.

So, it all came down to the finally pairing. Gabrielle stood down to make way for Graham, who thought he'd come along just to support the team but ended up playing in the pairs with Dave. I don't know if they were aware of the situation but in a very tense and close game, Dave and Graham kept their nerve finally winning 13-12.

After the match both teams got together in the pavillion to enjoy refreshments including some home made madelienes that Gabrielle had baked.

The teams next match will be against Westward Ho! on the 23rd of August.
