North Devon Result

On Sunday we played our second home match in the Devon Petanque League when we hosted North Devon Golf Club- Petanque at the Victoria Park terrain. After some very close games Bridgwater PC where the eventual winners by three games to two.

Bridgwater won both of the opening triples. Rodney, David and Michael being comfortable winners 13 - 3. However, the other game was a much close affair. Devon took an early lead with Bridgwater trailing a long way behind. However, Barry, Alison and Ian kept calm and gradually fought their way back into contention and the scores where level at 12 all going into a one end shoot-out. In a very tense encounter Bridgwater scored the one point required to win the game 13 - 12.

Devon had the edge in the pairs winning two of the three games. However, with Michael and Ian winning their game 13 - 1 Bridgwater secured the win need in order to claim the match. Rodney and Dave went down 13 - 6 and Alison and Barry were once again involved in another close encounter narrowly losing 11 - 13.

The final match of the season will be held on Sunday the 13th of September when Bridgwater take on Wellington.
